Interactive Marketing ? of the Week: What will replace the Internet?

So I was just thinking…

My grandmother was 82 when she died.  I was in the sixth grade.  Would she have ever imagined cell phones, mobile GPS units, and yes… the Internet?

With her great record collection of Nat King Cole and Jazz greats … would she have seen the replacement of cassette tapes, and the early onset of CD’s ? (she would have seen both cassette tapes and VERY early adopters of CDs).

So, today’s question is … what do you think could replace the internet?  Dream on and comment below.

I think there is more of a chance for the Internet to be extended rather than replaced. The Internet enables a person to use their eyes to see information or talk to people without being in the same place as other people providing the information. It allows us to hear sounds in the same fashion. Maybe the next step is to connect the “seeing” experience of the Internet with other senses like smell, touch, and taste. Wouldn’t that be cool. I’ve seen it attempted, but it has to be “like real” or seemless to the user so it doesn’t seem disconnected from the seeing and hearing senses.

Great insight MBW. Sounds like you are saying that the Internet can become more Virtual, More Interactive, and more encompassing of our senses.

      I can see that!
