18 Mar Social Media English Lesson
Somewhere between my Sophomore and Senior year in high school, I took a year of Latin. Really, I had taken 2 years of French and chickened out on French III.
At least I tested out of a semester of French in College.
But I digress as I normally do. I thought that Latin was going to be good in the future of a possible medical/scientific career. I would later learn, that I had more fun learning about the gods, titans, sirens, cyclops, centaurs, and Greek lifestyles than I did learning the suffix combinations.
So the scrutiny of the day to you fellow thought leaders is:
“Do you say (personally) ‘Social Media are’ or ‘Social Media is’ “
There is a natural proclivity for me personally to forget that Media is the plural for Medium and therefore needs a plural verb.
So the next time you are out and about at your conferences giving your Social Media thought leadership and digital strategy speech, mix up your audience and use your Plural Verb… and look for eyebrows in the audience 🙂
